Install R Advanced Analytics for DVD in MacOS High Sierra

Hi guys,

I am executing Oracle Data Visualization Desktop Configure R.app to install the R option for DVD on a MacOS High Sierra but it does not seem to work.

I have installed R 3.2.1 and have installed all the required libraries for some of the Forecasting visualizations like "forecast" package. My local R install is in:

/Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Resources/R (Version 3.2.1)

DV Desktop is installed at:

/Applications/dvdesktop.app/Contents/Resources/app.nw/OracleBI1/modules/oracle.bi.dvdesktop.installer/R

There are two folder here: lib and pkg. lib is empty and pkg has only  OBIEEAdvancedAnalytics_12.2.1.2.0

There are some DV Desktop sample project from https://www.oracle.com/analytic-library/index.html  related forecasting which do not seem to work.

Any pointers/help is appreciated!

Turns out I was missing an R library called RJSONIO. After installing that in my R 3.2.1 all forecasting viz now work. It does seem to work with 3.2.1 as well.

It should work, if not it is a bug and will be fixed. Did you upgrade to High Sierra before or after the DV upgrade? R 3.2.1 is not compatible with High Sierra and when I run the DV 4.1 R installation on my Mac (High Sierra) I get 3.3 and not 3.2.1.

To try and figure out your issue, can you please open a new project and create a visualization. Open the context menu and check if the advanced analytics options are shown in Italic or regular font.

* If it is shown in Italic it means that DV does not recognize the R installation, check the output from the R installation App to make sure it completes successfully
* In case it is not italic, DV identifies that R is installed. So your next step will be to try it out and check the error. Try to add Clusters to your visualization (make sure it is applicable to the data that you have on the viz). I assume that you will get an error, open the details of the error and post it here.

I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't work. The Mac OS version of DVD doesn't have a full set of functionality when compared with the windows version. Only options are to either run DVD on Windows natively or on a Windows VM on your Mac.
