Accurate start dates in my report

I've created a report to list all the new hires starting on the following Monday and I'm tried using both hire start date and Offer actual start date. It seems accurate in most cases, but occasionally I have new hires populate on the report with a different start date than whats in their profile.
Can anyone recommend a different date field?

This is probably the wrong section to ask this, what application is this in relation to EBS ? Peoplesoft ?
