Summary:

When users who have a different language selected other than English runs a New Hire report, the report will bring back no data because of a string in the filter called "Hire".

Content (required):

When the language is in anything other than English, the report won't bring back information. One of the filters on the report is looking for an action Reason called "Hire" & "Rehire an employee". As the words are in English, should OTBI translate the filter from English to the desired language to find results, or because the filter is English, their language will not find the action reasons, and bring back data.

Use Double Column to Create Language-Independent Filters:

Oracle Cloud applications store data in multiple languages. Hard-coding text string in a filter creates a problem with multi-lingual data. OTBI uses Double Column to support language-independent filtering. Double Column allows a column to have a ‘display’ column and ‘code’ column. ‘Display’ column displays data values for a column, e.g. female, male; and a ‘code’ column contains code values that are used independently across locales and languages, i.e. ‘F’ for female and ‘W’ for male. When a Double Column code filter is enabled, the report can be created once and the filter is automatically rendered in user’s local language without code change. OTBI subject area columns that are commonly used as filters have Double Column enabled in the repository. When you filter on a column that has Double Column enabled, you will see ‘Filter by xxxx Code’ option on the Edit Filter dialog box.
