SQL select queries
Description
Enable Consultants to develop reports in another tool like SQL Developer
Use Case and Business Need
It would be a lot easier if the consultants had read only access to the database for report writing and quick selects. Especially when creating BI Publisher reports.
I know that this is a security risk, but is there no way around this problem?

Instead of read only access to the database, do you want to try using a SQL query within BIP that is based on an OBIE subject area? I'm not sure if that helps your particular situation. Here is a video.

Hi Gail
Thanks for the comment.
I know about this functionality. This request is purely from a convenience point of view.
It is very tedious working with that small screen when you are testing multiple selects especially when running queries from the tables directly.
As appose to SQL developer you can have multiple tabs open and you do not need to create a data set or Model every time you need to run a select.

Vaughn,
apologies on this post from me last week
I believe, details like host, id/pw, SID, and port number of the specific Fusion instance are not available for the customers currently
so, i would like change this post as Reviewed instead of already available
Thanks
