As a workaround, I've used a Layout Editor (.xpt) or RTF template and then enabled the Excel xlsx output type.  This removes the 65k row limit of the older version of Excel template.  However, BIP being able to accommodate the xlsx as a template type would be nice so the additional features of Excel can be utilized within the template as well.

Gives us the opportunity to run certain report for a whole month in one report which is now not possible.

This is an terrible situation. We choose Oracle as the application because it promissed to be the best solution for our large range number of transactions.
How the report output is not able to handle these large numbers ......

Fusion cannot remain in excel 2003 forever. I hope MS retire excel 2003!!

As a consultant for multiple large enterprises (over 100k employees), the ability to create BI reports with more than 65k row output is critical. Still relying on 2003 software with such limitations in 2022 does not give a good impression. We have more than 15 custom reports for Compensation reporting and have had to create workarounds to adapt to the growing volume of data, since the OOTB xls template does not meet our needs.

There is a option at report

level which will move the rows more than 65k to next sheet without header.

Nav: Report -->properties -->Formatting -->Excel Template (set Enable Scalable Mode to true)

There is another way, which is a bit of a hack. Create an xlsx template in the normal way, rename this to xls and import into your report. This fools Publisher into thinking is has the 93-2007 style Excel.

When you download and open the generated xls, you will get a warning that the format does not match the extension, but now you can get reports containing up to 1,048,576 rows.
