Action needed: Switch to use JWT authentication
If you are currently using password-based basic authentication for Oracle Fusion Analytics Warehouse with the FAWService user, then we recommend that you switch to JWT authentication. Please read further for action to be taken.
Background:
Starting Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications release 23B, the FAWService user is being deprecated. The password for FAWService user cannot be updated in Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications. After your Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications instance upgrades to 23B, you will not be able to reset the password for FAWService user once it expires or changes due to a clone from another environment. This will impact Oracle Fusion Analytics Warehouse service and you're required to take the specified actions to prevent disruptions.
Impact :
- If you are using password-based basic authentication with the FAWService user, then the extract jobs will fail and the data pipeline will be disabled. Your data won't be refreshed incrementally and your administrator will be notified.
Action :
- If you are using password-based basic authentication with the FAWService user, then we recommend that you switch to JWT authentication. Please refer to Update the Data Source Connection Details for specific steps.
- Using a JavaScript Object Notation Web Token with Oracle Fusion Analytics blog provides detailed instructions.
- If you would like to continue using basic authentication, then you must create a user or update an existing user, assign appropriate roles, and provide the username and password in the Update the Data Source Connection Details screen. You can select the checkbox for 'Enable Username' in order to change the username from FAWService user to the alternate user. Please refer to Create a User in Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications to Extract Data for specific steps.
Impact :
- Data validation requires password-based basic authentication. FAWService user credentials will no longer work once the password expires.
Action :
- Please refer to Create a User to Validate the Extracted Data or use an existing user with the data validation role.
- Specify the username and password for the user created in the previous step in the Data Validation Source Credentials page.
If you need further assistance, please log a Service Request or reach out to your Oracle representative.
