Areas in OTBI. We did follow the steps documented in this metalink, but we don't see any change post following the steps

Oracle Fusion BI: Starting 19D, You Can Configure New BI Reporting Duty Roles to Hide the Factory Catalog Folders ( Doc ID 2596730.1 )

Can someone help us on this plz

  • Hi Team,

About Duty Role Access to Seeded Shared Folders

Each seeded shared folder in the catalog is secured using a specific reporting role.

All authenticated users inherit a Custom BI Webcat Reporting Duty role, CUSTOM_BI_WEBCAT_REPORTING_DUTY. The Custom BI Webcat Reporting Duty role inherits all of the seeded folder reporting roles.

This table lists the mapping between shared seeded folders and folder reporting roles.

    Thanks

    Hi Dimple,

Thanks for the reply. We followed the same steps as instructed in the shared link. Unfortunately we are still seeing the factor catalog objects after deleting from CUSTOM_BI_WEBCAT_REPORTING_DUTY. Could you please let me know if we are missing any step here?

  • Hello Naresh,

You need to take a copy of the role and remove for eg : BI_MKT_REPORTING_DUTY if you don't want to view /shared/Marketing,

    BI_ZBS_REPORTING_DUTY -- to remove /shared/Sales

and attach this new role to the user and test?

If still same issue, get the export of new role from security console.

    Thanks

    DN

    Hi @Dimple-Nagesh-Support-Oracle ,

we also need to same stuff. I have removed duty roles directly from CUSTOM_BI_WEBCAT_REPORTING_DUTY role. Should we need to take copy first and attach to job role.

as per the documentation we can directly remove the duty roles from this one and ran the process. I have done same but few folders are still showing like project , content management . I have kept only HCM related one and rest all has been removed.

Any guess why I am still seeing some folders and some are not shown now as expected.

    Regards

    Ankur

Did you follow the steps 8 and 9 of the document:

    • In the Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence Home page, click My Profile, and then click Administration from the menu.
    • In the Maintenance and Troubleshooting section, click Reload Files and Metadata.
    • Ideally, this should remove the respective seeded folders when their associated Duty Roles are removed from the CUSTOM_BI_WEBCAT_REPORTING_DUTY role.
    • Note: CUSTOM_BI_WEBCAT_REPORTING_DUTY role is a duty role and cannot be copied. So, the process of directly removing the duty roles from this role is the only way to perform the steps.

    Hi @Varun Malhotra-Support-Oracle ,

I have followed step 8 and 9 as well but I was still able to see the folders. Do we need to remove jobs roles from employee profile ?

  • Hello Ankur Jain--Oracle,

From the document : Oracle Fusion BI: Starting 19D, You Can Configure New BI Reporting Duty Roles to Hide the Factory Catalog Folders (Doc ID 2596730.1), below are the reporting duty roles for corresponding Folders, can you re-validate and confirm if you have removed all of them, which you do want to view?

    Roles

Test the same and let me know the results.

    Thanks,
    Dimple N
