Oracle Licensing and Agent Recipients

Hello Friends, I'm trying to understand what qualifies as a licensed user. I have a scenario below.

Users are added through Active Directory LDAP and are given roles to allow them access to the system (OAS). I understand these users are using up the allocated licenses.

However, do email recipients receiving content from Agents/ibots who do not have access to the OAS system count as users using allocated licenses as well?

These are users whose names are not in the user list from Active Directory or have no roles to access the system.

Secondly,

For Email groups used as recipients for Agents/ibot content; is each recipient in the email group considered a licensed user? or does the email group used count as a single licensed user?

    @Misan Omatsone ,

    Definitely speak to your account manager: never ever trust a forum for licensing questions, not even an Oracle one. If you will do something thinking it is fine because of a forum, it's still you who will be in trouble with Oracle if you abused the licenses you have.

    SMTP license has nothing to do here: the question is "if I have 10 user licenses but send out a delivery to 10'000 people by using a distribution list in my email system, am I clean from a licensing point of view?". Obviously the example is extreme, but it's a factual licensing question if you can have a minimal number of licensed users in OAS who build all the analyses needed by the whole company and deliver them by email, either directly as email addresses recipient (part 1 of the question here) or by using a distribution list on the mail server side (part 2 of the question).

    Speak to your account manager, get that answer written in an email with the account manager signature on it: that would get you covered in case somebody else disagree with the usage you will do of the product.

    @Misan Omatsone - While I'm unsure how the recipients of agents might be impacting your license, I recommend referring to the document below for guidance on whom to contact for clarifications regarding licensing.

    @Mostafa Morsy-Oracle Thanks for inquiring.

    My use-case is for On-Premise OBIEE 12c/OAS

    For the Email delivery, I'd like to know if email recipients of Agents(ibots) who do not have access to OAS, count as users consuming a license?

    Also, if that's true, I would like to know if Email groups count as a single license used or each recipient in the email group counts as a license?

    If you using your SMTP Server please consult your SMTP Server for license issues

    in OAS we do not have any restrictions if there any restrictions will come from your SMTP Server I hope this is clear
