Renaming the subject areas in OBIEE 11G

Hi Team,

We have a requirement for renaming the subject areas in OBIEE 11G. Currently our subject areas as shown below. Like to know what is the impact of renaming the subject areas to EQRM – … instead of EQM – … (e.g. EQRM – CSAP instead of EQM –CSAP). Should we recreate all our reports and prompts.

1.) Renaming happens in the presentation layer of the RPD

2.) When renaming, an Alias object is immediately created so all legacy objects (analyses, prompts, filters,....) will continue to work as XML references are checked against fully qualified object names as well as aliases.

3.) Proper work would be to update all XML references though. Since no one can prevent people from "cleaning" up the aliases and hence breaking things. You can do that in the Catalog Manager tool using the "XML Search & Replace" function. Just make sure you know what you're doing and you have backed up your presentation catalog safely before doing anything!
