How to use EDM in FDI?

We have a requirement to develop a set of GL Balances reports based on the custom hierarchies. These hierarchies will be updated every month.

We would like to try EDM for this implementation. Our understanding is as below

1. Upload custom hierarchy files in EDM
2. Fusion ERP should pick these hierarchies
3. While FDI runs the data load, custom hierarchies should be considered.
4. Reports can be developed by picking custom hierarchy in GL Balance Sheet subject area and measures should be populated for the custom hierarchy.

Please let us know if this approach is feasible. Any suggestions or approach documents can be helpful.

@Shiva Uppushetty - FDI pipelines can't be customized but for the similar requirement we have CAA. Please review the document below for more details:

To add to what Sumanth said, we do have an 'Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud' connection type as described here. However, this connection type only supports the CSV data format. CAA does offer more options than a CSV file.

Will CAA suffice our scenario where we have our own hierarchy for specific set of reports? If yes, where should be the custom hierarchy file to be uploaded?

We have reviewed below post. According to this post, it seems it will enable CAA subject area to combine data across general ledger and multiple subledger sources and build your own reports. But no option to call my own custom hierarchy.

Else, do we need to create custom table in ADW with custom hierarchy and then extend sematic model?

Please clarify.

@Shiva Uppushetty You can use the EDMC Connector provided by FDI and load the required tables/Hierarchy tables in the ADW. Post that you can use the Semantic Model Extension feature to use the tables for your reporting structure.

In case the Custom hierarchy is being refreshed in the source monthly then you can schedule a full load for the augmentation which is bringing in the hierarchy related table every month depending on your feasibility. To schedule the Augmentations for EDMC connection you can go to Pipeline Settings for EDMC connector.
