Activating a functional area in FDI

Question

We recently provisioned FDI environment and has started configuring FDI. As a first step, we enabled preview features and then generally available features. As a next step, we created functional area and there were 3 options available-

* Save without running(you can schedule later- if we use this, functional area gets saved but then there is no option to activate it. We are not able to set up global parameters as no functional area is activated.
* Run Immediately- if we use this, the status shows Activation is in progress but if we check request history, it shows full adhoc load is in progress.
* Schedule for later- if we use this, the status changes to Activation scheduled and not able to set up global parameters.

So need to know since we tried activating a functional area only why Full load started even reporting parameters are not configured. How much time it takes to activate a functional area.

@Yogesh Yadav - Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence runs the data pipeline for the functional area, loads data into your data warehouse, and displays your data pipeline for the functional area on the Data Configuration page. Once data is successfully loaded, the system updates the status of the data pipeline for the functional area to Activation Completed. This is as per design and documented. Please refer the below document which mentions the same.

@Sumanth V -Oracle just to clarify the question again. Required features were enabled, Pipeline parameters were set and then Functional offering creation was done. As i mentioned in the above screenshot, there is no specific option to activate a pipeline. When we choose the option Save without running offering was not activated. when we selected Run Immediately option, then status changed to Activation in progress and Full load started for that Offering. Once full load completed then the offering status changed to Activation complete. So, the question stands same, how come load is running when the Offering is not activated.

@Yogesh Yadav - One needs to perform this task of creating a data pipeline for Functional area, only after you have set up the pipeline and report parameters.

Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence extracts data only from the initial extract date that you specify. For example, if the initial extract date is 10th March and you've added data on 9th March in your source, then the data added on 9th won’t be part of this data pipeline activation plan. You can see the data pipeline activation plan listed on the Data Configuration page.
