Application Roles Reappearing
For our groups we have taken down all application roles that are content duties in order to hide reports that were built by Oracle. However, when an update is applied to the system the content duties reappear to its corresponding regular duty. For example, the picture below before the update was applied the group only contained 'General Ledger Account Analysis Duty' but when the update was applied the group was added the content duty application role. Could anyone explain the meaning of this please?

I saw this behavior during an upgrade in late 2024. The upgrade did add items back even to CUSTOM groups. We created an SR and the resolution was it was a bug and will be fixed in early 2025.
As John indicated, seeded groups will still be updated. But custom groups shouldn't be. I don't know if its fixed yet or not so continue to check this when you upgrade.1

This would be expected with OOTB Groups. The general documentation on managing groups is here:
Are you referring to a custom group that is not syncing with Fusion Apps and has specific roles mapped?
