Can we delete and recreate the 'Custom' folder under 'Shared Folders' in OTBI?

We want to clean up the Custom folder contents in Dev environment and recreate it from the production archive. Are there any restrictions or impacts to deleting the 'Custom' folder under 'Shared Folders' in OTBI?

Hi Raja,
Welcome to Oracle Analytics community.
As /Custom is a seeded folder provided by Oracle, it is not recommended to delete this folder. You may get issues later on and may need an intervention from support. A similar issue has been mentioned in below MOS note:
Fusion BI - Rename the Custom Folder or Seeded Folders in Cloud BI Catalog (Doc ID 2104392.1)
So, it would be better to delete individual folders inside the Custom folder and unarchive them from Production.
Also, the size of folder plays a role when trying to delete it:
Not able to rename or delete existing folder in BI catalog — Cloud Customer Connect
Thanks.

Hi @Raja Venkadesh,
Welcome to the Oracle Analytics Community.
Yes you can do it. But please note you will be loosing all your security settings specific to DEV environment for the custom folder.
As you will be refreshing the DEV env with Production catalog, it'll be the same setting that exists in Production.
In my couple of projects we wanted to keep the Non-Prod catalog after the environment (P2T) refresh, as a result we used to delete the Custom folder after the refresh activity and restore the previous copy of Non-Prod Catalog.
It is NOT Recommended to do any deletion in Production env directly.
Hope this help.
Thank you.

Please take a backup of the custom folder and then you can delete it and unarchive from the production .
Then it will not have any impact

The 'Custom' folder under 'Shared Folders' is a key location for storing user-defined reports and configurations. While you can manage its contents, deleting and recreating the folder itself is not recommended due to system dependencies.
