How to call dbms_crypto package from Oracle BI publisher
gpurohit

We have a requirement to call dbms_crypto.encrypt package from BI publisher to encrypt sensitive data at the column level.
So i have 2 questions:
- When we select Data Source as ApplicationDB_HCM which schema/user is it using? (eg apps, fusion etc.)
- If we raise SR on Oracle to grant execute on dbms_crypto to that user will Oracle allow it.

Hi @gpurohit,
Welcome to the Oracle Analytics Community!
Please find below details:
- "Application DB_HCM" refers to the database or data connection associated with Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM)
- If you are SaaS customer, Oracle might not grant the access but worth checking with Oracle Support directly.
Hope this help.
Thank you.

Hi,
As per my knowledge, you won't be able to use this directly in select clause.
You can try to explore the procedure call method in BIP and see if that works:
PL SQL block from Fusion BI Report using Procedure Call - Oracleshare
Thanks.
