Does OTBI run on live transactional database

Hi,

Would like to know if OTBI subject areas run on live transactional database? sometimes I have observed, there is some delay in results after performing transactions.

Yes they are. I have experinced slight delays sometimes but those have primarily been due to caching or while the background job is not finished.
