If a user already has the BI Administrator role in SaaS Fusion, do they still need additional data roles along with AP Manager or GL Manager to view data in OTBI reports? Or is the BI Administrator role alone sufficient to access all reporting data?

    Hello,

A BI Administrator role is usually not enough on its own to view specific General Ledger (GL) data, as it primarily grants technical, structural, or catalog-level administration rights rather than functional data access. To view GL account data, a user typically requires specific functional roles (e.g., Financial Analyst) combined with data access sets.

BI Administrator is a platform role and lets you Create, edit, and manage OTBI analyses & dashboards, access the BI Catalog, Manage subject areas, folders, and permissions and Troubleshoot reports. It does NOT automatically grant access to transactional data. OTBI data access is controlled by Fusion ERP data security, not just BI roles.

    Hi @User_BR9YB,

Welcome to the Oracle Analytics Community!

Please find below comparison which might be useful for the understanding.

    Core Access Requirements:

    • Job Roles (Who): The user must be assigned predefined job roles such as General AccountantGeneral Accounting Manager, or Financial Analyst.
    • Data Access Set (What Data): The user must have a Data Access Set (DAS) assigned, which determines which Ledger or Legal Entity's financial data they can view.
    • BI Permissions (Access to Tools): Users need the access, and specifically BI Consumer role to view reports, BI Author to create them or BI Administrator to do some admin jobs like moving reports, granting permissions etc.

    Hope this help.

    Thank you.
