Idea: AI Assistance for Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) Expressions
Just as Microsoft Power BI Copilot helps users write DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) should offer an AI assistant to help write OAC Expression Language. This would enable both developers and business users to create expressions faster and more accurately when building visualizations.
By embedding this capability directly into the OAC Expression Editor, Data Flows, and Workbook Calculations, Oracle can reduce technical friction, improve accessibility, and help ensure OAC remains competitive in the business intelligence (BI) space.
Proposed Implementation Points
- Inline Assistance: Provide a dedicated sidebar and/or a “magic wand” icon within the Expression Builder to generate or refine expressions on demand.
- Contextual Awareness: The AI should recognize the columns, measures, filters, and grain currently in use in the workbook or dataset to produce relevant expressions.
- Validation: Integrate with the existing OAC syntax validator so generated code is immediately functional and errors are caught early.
