Currently in OAC DV, there is no option to set security at the individual canvas level within a workbook by the workbook owner or a BI Administrator. By default, users who are granted access to a workbook can view all canvas pages within it.
In many cases, we design workbooks that are intended to be shared across multiple user groups and we would like to control which canvases each group can access based on their roles. Currently, we handle this role-based security by embedding the DV workbook into a Classic BI dashboard, where we can publish specific canvases to different pages and apply security at the page level for each user group.
As we move toward enabling a more self-service DV experience and encouraging users to transition from BI to DV, it would be beneficial to have the ability to apply role-based security directly at the canvas level within DV workbooks.
Without this feature, before allowing users to transition to DV, we would need to restructure existing shared workbooks into smaller, separate ones for different user groups and remove unused canvases from the existing workbooks so they are not visible to users. We would also need to create multiple versions of the same workbook for different user groups going forward.
Having this capability would help streamline the transition to DV and reduce the complexity involved in the process.
Please consider this enhancement for a future release.
Thank you.
