In hierarchical columns in a report, when you drill into a child record and its child, there is no way of returning to the original field.
A report build off of subject area, that has a field 'Line of business', when you click the third menu button, it provides a menu option 'Drill to LOB L4', which drills down and takes you 'LOB L4' from which you can further drill down. There is no way of getting back to the original 'Line of business' field.
In earlier versions we had breadcrumps that will track the trail.
