Our internal teams are able to create their own reports once a data model is built by using the "Create Report" button on the dm. As they are working through adding data, often times they add grouping and subtotals. Per SR 4-0002822354, the ability to have anything other than BLANK TEXT or a static value in a subtotal field for BIP reports is not available. Requesting the ability to have the data in the subtotal fields that are not numerical in nature to be able to render. This will allow users to aggregate their data within a report, but then filter by subtotals and know what those subtotals refer to.
Example below — these rows represent the subtotals. If a user were to filter only on the subtotals to get a quick comparison, they would have no reference to what each row represents outside of the Grand Total row which is a static value:
