Hello Team,

We have comments added on columns of table in ADB using "COMMENT ON COLUMN". When we are adding this tables in Semantic Model. When we add those tables in Semantic Model we want it should get populated in Description of Columns but Description is coming as null.

We have figured 1 way to export JSON of semantic model and modify it and add Description in it with help of Python scripting but looking for feasible workaround for future changes.

Any suggestion please.

Hi,

The comments on objects in the semantic model aren't populated from the physical source you are using. It has never been the case and it isn't expected.

Your approach of generating the JSON outside the semantic model and then copy it back in the semantic model is the correct approach if you want to include the comments available in your physical source.

If you want to request this feature (importing the comments on columns and tables from the source when importing the physical object), you should request it.
