Add an accessibility check to Data Visualization workbooks, similar to the one in Office, that runs before you share or publish. It would flag:
- Low colour contrast between text, data labels and backgrounds
- Palettes that aren't colour-blind safe, with a suggested alternative
- Visualisations with no title or alt text for screen readers
- Charts that rely on colour alone to show meaning, such as red and green with no labels or icons
It would also offer one-click fixes where possible.
Justification:
More of us are publishing dashboards to wide audiences, including public sector and healthcare, where accessibility standards like WCAG are a requirement rather than a nice-to-have. At the moment the only way to check is by eye or with external tools, which is slow and easy to miss. A built-in checker would help designers get it right first time and make OAC content usable for everyone.
