Add a workbook or dataset setting that automatically hides or rounds values below a set threshold, for example counts under 5, across all visualisations. Suppressed values would show as "<5" or "*". It should also stop the hidden number being worked out from totals or subtotals, sometimes called secondary suppression. Admins could set the threshold and the display text, and lock the setting so report builders can't switch it off.
Justification:
Healthcare organisations regularly publish workforce and absence activity dashboards. Small counts can identify individuals, for example the one person on long-term sickness in a ward, or a handful of patients with a rare condition at one site. NHS/Healthcare and data protection guidance expects small numbers to be suppressed before sharing. Today this has to be built by hand with CASE statements in every calculation, which is slow and easy to get wrong when filters or drill-downs reveal the detail. A built-in setting would make safe sharing the default.
