Hi Team,
We do not want the edit analysis option to be visible for the reports created and saved in shared folders for end users.
When the end users click on the Edit Link, it says below message.
Please guide.
Use permissions on the objects in /shared and assign only "Read" and "Open" to their application roles.
Use the tool as it's designed.
Hi Christian,
Thank you for the reply. Edit option always comes even with Open access in permissions of the report.
We do not want to show the edit option at all.
Then remove it from the dashboard options:
By the way the "below message" never got uploaded to this thread, so we can't know what you saw/see.
I had placed the image, not sure why it did not come
The issue is not with the reports placed in dashboard. The suggested option is not based on folder and report security and will apply for all.
We want to hide the edit option when we navigate from folders for users.
Even OAS 5.5 renders the "Edit" but just doesn't allow you to save when you don't have the correct rights.
If you would be precise about your "12c" and finally post your "below message" we could have an idea of what you're seeing. Just FYI there were more than 30 "12c" so far spanning more than 4 years of development which means that the software has evolved.
We get the below error when I click on Edit Link for a report. The user does not have access to the subject area.
Which.
Exact.
Version.
Do.
You.
Run.
We are on below version:
What you're experiencing is normal, expected behaviour. Edit rights on objects plus access to Answers but no rights to use the Subject Area in Answers throws this message.
You would have had that answer right away if you had been precise in your question:
1. Precise version number
2. People don't have access rights to the Subject Area
3. You're opening analyses (NOT "reports") via the Catalog Manager or as you put it "from folders"
If you write more than 3 lines in your original question and are specific, then you can save all this message ping-pong and make discussions useful and helpful for all participants of the forum.
Anyone has any idea why the OAC documentation on custom viz is not available now? I was able to access till last week - https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/paas/analytics-cloud/acsdv/build-package-extension.html. Does this mean OAC doesnt support custom viz or custom workbook extensions?
Does Oracle Analytics Server 2026 include AI features such as a built-in chatbot or AI Assistant? If not, are there any plans or indications that these AI capabilities will be introduced in a future OAS release?
