In which way exactly? As a data source? As a host for the RCU for new installations? Please be precise.

OBIEE 12.2.1.2 is no longer being developed and no new patches are being distributed since July 2018 as you can see here: https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocContentDisplay?id=2070465.1

You are on an outdated version. It will read data from a 19c database jsut fine since, but you're on a tech stack from 2016 which you haven't upgraded so that means you can not look forward to benefitting from enhanced capabilties like leveraging new tech and fuinction-shipping specifically for 19c.

Between 2018 (end of 12.2.1.2) and now you've skipped 12.2.1.3, 12.2.1.4, OAS 5.5 (2020) and OAS 5.9 (2021). Now the 2022 version of OAS is around the corner so it's more than high time you start thinking about upgrading. Sticking with outdated technology only penalizes yourself (your company) as you deliberately choose to not utilize the newest technology which your license fee payments would allow you to use since almost 4 years. Upgrades are free, you don't need to pay for them.

    Hi Christian,

    Thanks for your prompt response.

Currently, we are using OBIEE 12.2.1.2 and oracle 12c as a data source and metadata.

we are planning migration from Oracle 12c to Oracle 19c. so that obiee 12.2.1.2 support oracle 19c?

And also , is it possible move metadata from oracle 12c to 19c?

    kindly suggest on this.

Technically possible, officially not supported because 12.2.1.2 was already no longer getting patched when DB 19c came out. So your OBIEE was outdated already when 19c came around.

Have you read my comments above? There is no reason to stay on 12.2.1.2 and it makes zero sense to keep that running. You are needlessly wasting money (not utilizing what you could have for free) as well as risking security holes (there a reno more patches since more than 3 years).

Why do you want to stay on 12.2.1.2? Think about it - that's like using Windows XP or iOS 9.

  • Seeing things from a different point of view: you want to upgrade your database from 12c to 19c, so why not upgrading OBIEE as well? (I mean in general, there is no reason to stay on a old unsupported OBIEE as that's probably the reason you are moving your DB to 19c.)

OBIEE deserves as much love as your database ;-)
