Description

Since OAC is managed by Oracle, by default there should be a virus scanner and SMTP server pre-configured and allow for customers to override if necessary.

Use Case and Business Need

We have experienced multiple issues with certificates and patching clearing SMTP settings for OAC environment.   There should be a default SMPT server available out of the box.

For the virus scanner, we get the message about not having a virus scanner configured when uploading data models and data.  If a default virus scanner cannot be included, then allow a system settings to disable the virus scanning for the entire instance if customer desires.

More details

Oracle managed OAC should include all capabilities built-in.

Totally agree on both of these. "Autonomous" service, by its very definition, should include managed virus scanning.

January 2020 release for Autonomous Database includes built-in SMTP.. why not do the same for OAC?

"Autonomous Database now includes the UTL_SMTP package. This makes it possible to send emails via PL/SQL from within Autonomous Database. However, note that the only supported email provider is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Email Delivery service - for example:

I agree. Managed service then, I expect it to have Pre-configured SMTP server and Virus Scanner.

Revisiting this request again three years later... every time we deploy a data model we get the message about a virus scanner not being configured... either provide one by default or else allow for a system setting to ignore the virus scanner check
