Description

When importing from epbcs into oac rpd. You only get hierarchy type value as it is greyed out. We need the ability to create generations/levels in the hierarchy (entity, account, cost center etc). also the ability to change the measures dimension and flatten it.

Use Case and Business Need

When importing from epbcs into oac rpd. You only get hierarchy type value as it is greyed out. We need the ability to create generations/levels in the hierarchy (entity, account, cost center etc). Value based hierarchies can only use the hierarchical column which is too slow and doesn't allow use to drill into visuals for DV. With hyperion you use to be able to change the hierarchy type. The adm driver for epbcs doesn't so it would be great if that ability was built for epbcs integration into oac. If we don't have this ability then we can use this driver. Its not usable in the this state.

More details

driver should give us the same options or more than hyperion integration not less just because we are connecting to epbcs instead of onprem

  • This is definitely a feature we are also looking forward to. I believe the direct integration with PBCS/FCCS cubes is in the roadmap.
Looking forward for this feature in one of the upcoming releases.

    Thanks

  • The exposure of generation columns from the driver is an EPM task as we only show what the driver provides. Having said that, we are already working with the EPM team to expose the generation columns. It is planned for an EPM update in a few weeks followed by an OAC update to consume it. Be warned, it will give you a long list of generations... (see attached)

Note that this is for exposing generation metadata in the RPD and via the direct connector. Being able to use RPD hierarchies in DV is a different topic.

  • Appreciate the update and glad to see its already underway. We will have about 20 levels for each dimension but its worth it to be able to use that functionality. We'll have to do some workarounds until its updated both in our EPBCS and OAC environments as we are working towards a soon to be production release. Thanks

  • Exposing hierarchies as hierarchies and navigating those as such in Pivot and Table visualization is currently scheduled for late Q1.
