Hello,

We are migrating OBIEE RPD and Catalog from one Server to another Server (this is not from Dev to Test or Test from Prod, it is from Server 1 to Server 2).

We have several folders, sub-folders in our catalog along with several MyFolders (there are over 20,000 users). We have the same Catalog folder structure in Server 2 as we have in Server 1. But, there are certain named permissions given on Server 1 that are not on Server 2. If I need to deploy the code form Server 1 to Server 2, I am thinking of simply taking the RPD and Catalog from Server 1 and putting it at Server 2.

My assumption is that all .ATR files, named access security, Manage Privileges settings will be copied from Server 1 to Server 2. Is this correct?

The other way is that I use Catalog Manager and move objects under Server 1 -> Folder A -> Sub-Folder B -> Obejct x from Server 1 to Sever 2. But, since I have too many sub-folders/objects, it might take lot of time. Also, there are several user folders so this approach may not be efficient.

Any issues you think I can encounter in moving the entire Catalog from Server 1 and putting it at Sever 2? It seems pretty straightforward to me.

Thank you for your time to help me!

The following Oracle documentation has the necessary details for the OBIEE versions:

Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.3.0 [1905] to 11.1.1.9.0 [Release 11g]

Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.3.0 [1905] to 11.1.1.9.0 [Release 11g]

    Business Intelligence Server Administrator - Version 11.1.1.3.0 [1905] to 11.1.1.9.0 [Release 11g]

Moving from a Test to a Production Environment

Object-level permissions like who can open/traverse/etc folders, analyses, prompts,..?

Or do you mean "Privileges" are different?
