Allowable Image File Types in OBIEE 12c
My organization is upgrading from 11g to 12c. In 11g we used several different image file types (jpg, gif, png, etc.) to include images on dashboard pages. We are testing now and have had trouble with getting images to appear. After working with Oracle Support we were able to identify all of the folders that we needed to place the images in but could not figure out why some were working and others were not. Our gif images were working but jpg images were not. So we converted the jpg to a gif and the image finally appeared.
I have searched the community and Google for some documentation on what file types work and if there is a file size restriction but have not found an answer. Does anybody know if there is a document out there that would help answer my question?
Thank you,
Jordan

In this document an example of .gif is used.

This document appears to refer to changing the appearance of the UI, not placing images on dashboards. If they're only mentioning the two file types though I can see how that would suggest others aren't allowed.
I don't think this is conclusive but it is helpful. Thank you.

All types of images should work fine, can you give me the SR number so I can check what has been done?

Hi, any kind of image your browser will understand will work.
Keep in mind it's a webpage, so no special rules there.
Where does these images come from ?
If from another server / domain you have CSP (content security policy) blocking things and you simply need to configure it right.

We were trying to upload the images instead of just referencing them with fmap. There was some confusion between the two on our end. German walked me through setting up a custom configuration for storing images as well.
Thanks for the help everyone!
