Migration Error - OBIEE 11g to 12c

Hi,

Created the export bundle using bi-migration-tool.jar in 11g, which is having JDK version jdk1.8.0_92.

When i tried to import the export bundle in 12c, linux terminal got stuck with the step "Performing actual import".

Pasted the migration log file. Please help me resolve the issue.

    In the Log message there is nothing wrong... have you tried checking other server logs?

    Hi,

    We get the same errors.  (I have added it to the SR we have for our migration issues, but was hoping for a speedier resolution.)
    Our environment is an Exalytics T5-8 server, running Solaris 11.  Both 11g and 12c are on the same server in different ORACLE_HOMEs.

    Our import fails with the following messages:

    Performing actual import
    An error occurred during import: Plugin metadata -- oracle.bi.migration.plugin.metadata.TransformBarException: Transformation failed. Check logs for failure messages.
    Import failed: Plugin metadata -- oracle.bi.migration.plugin.metadata.TransformBarException: Transformation failed. Check logs for failure messages.

    We get the following lines from the log (Basically the same as Sudhen's):

    Hi Casper,

    Looks like your 11g import into 12c environment is failing at 11g RPD migration into 12c environment and it is due to below error

    "symbol S_OS_DEFAULT_USER: referenced symbol not found"

    Could you open your OBIEE 11g RPD in OBIEE 11g BI Administration Client Tool and perform consistency check of your 11g RPD to see if passes all the checks, because if it fails then you need to fix the errors and perform migration from scratch after fixing the error and placing the fixed RPD in your environment.

    In your case in your 11g RPD you should look if there is there any reference of object with name "S_OS_DEFAULT_USER" whereas object itself is missing.

    Hi,

    Our solution was simple:

    Make sure that no older version environment variable are set and do not set any environment variables for 12c either before doing the import.

    Thats it.
