Users not able to access Direct Database tables on OBIEE dashboard.

Hi,
I have created a dashboard with 6 tables where 4 tables are created using Criteria tab, and another 2 tables are created using direct database request.
Some particular users are not able to view the tables on dashboard that are created using Direct Database request. I think that's an access issue.
Can someone please let me know, how to provide access in this case, or a suitable way in which the tables becomes visible to all the users?
Thanks and regards,
Dolly

Hi,
If I'm not mistaken, there's a privilege in the administration section which is something like "Execute Direct Database Analysis". You'll probably need to grant that privilege to users/roles who should see those analysis.

Thanks Pedro

You have to set that in RPD also....Do that in Identity manager. for the connection to be used as direct database connection you need to allow that user role to run direct db connection.

You will run into a management nightmare with the general user population having the ability to generate Direct Requests .. I'd rethink displaying these requests on a generally available dashboard.

Thanks Arijit and Thomas,
I just want the users to execute Direct Database request. I do not want to allow them to generate Direct Database request. For my requirement, what changes I need to make in the rpd?

Hi DollyG ,
maybe you should give "Execute Direct Database Analysis" privilege to users/roles.

Btw - others might disagree - but for me direct database request is not a permanent solution, but a temporary tool useful for DBA or developers to get a quick answer.
I would model your ddr's into opaque views at the very minimum.

Amen to that.

So, u mean to say, I should not create analysis using DDR?

I mean you should not create permanent solutions using DDR, they bypass all of the advantages of using OBIEE, if you just want DDR as a solution then you may as well go back to discoverer custom folders... (were it supported)
