Hi Community!

I am trying to create an analysis that has Actuals, Budget and Last Year lined up by time metric. I have renamed column headers to separate the metrics I want to look at. However, the Quarters are duplicating (see screenshot below). Is it possible to have the results shown so the Quarters only appear once (i.e. the actuals and budgets line up with the LY column)? I have tried pivoting without any joy. The group who set up the tool for my company aren't around to assist unfortunately.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks,

How is LY being calculated, is this using AGO functionality?

Also, when you say you have tried pivot, do you mean you have tried presenting the data in a pivot table but you get the same result?

Finally, are there any additional columns in the data not show in the table above?

  • Thanks for the response Robert.

I didn't build the functionality unfortunately but I believe AGO was used.

Yes, that is what I mean and getting the same outcome.

Yes, there is a column with various cost centres in it which I am pulling the metrics data for.

    Kind Regards,

    Paul

^  this is a 'living' tool ... not a set-it-and-forget-it tool ... your company absolutely has to get a BI program going and appoint someone to administer and develop this tool IN CONJUNCTION with the changes in the business.

The problem is in the underlying model (Business model and mapping layer).

On ... various cost centres - I take it these are the same across, so you would expect it to group into a single row?

I fear the learned @Thomas Dodds is correct on your business model, but one to try is open the analytics, go to the query tab and delete all columns which are not present in the analysis, if they are used as a filter then remove them from all but the filter section.

If this does not work then you do need to revert to your previous or a new partner with expert knowledge, with all due respect I suspect none of us could talk you through fixing it with your current experience.
