Hi All,

newdashboard.PNG

I have created a dashboard and it is accessible to all the users across organization.

However, one of the user has reported an issue:

As shown in the above image, These are the dashboard prompts that I have created, user is able to view all the data on dashboard except for these dashboard prompts.

Can anyone please tell me, why is this happening?

Thanks,

Dolly

Ask the user to try different browsers as well as to clear browser cache to see if that rectifies their issue.

Check just the prompt object in the dash board. Check if the user has access to that prompt object. User might have access to dashboard but not the prompt object.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply!

    1. Cleared browser cache.

    2. Checked the access on Dashboard Prompt object. Read and Execute access provided to "Bi Consumer" and the user is added in BI Consumer group.

Still, issue persists. How can I proceed?

    Thanks,

    Dolly

Did you check in the section permission that the user is not somehow denied access?

Can you also check if there is any conditional formatting in the section? If there is a criteria that might prevent the user to see it.

    Thanks

    Hi,

are the dashboard prompts saved under the same folder structure as the rest of the dashboard, if not have you checked down the hierarchy of folders that the dashboard prompt is in that there is nothing that would prevent your BI Consumer user from seeing it?

    Hi All,

I have checked all the things as suggested by you but no solution is working as of now. It is a very random issue occurring to few users but it is critical.

    Any thoughts, anyone?

    Please let me know!

    Thanks,

    Dolly

  • Are you 100% sure it isn't permissions related?

So if you create a test users with exactly the same security assignments as one of the users with the issue you don't have any problem?

Keep in mind security is all about inheritance most of the time, inheritance which can happen at various levels, like being denied somewhere on some indirect roles or groups or users.

Sure you can also always just delete the user totally (in every single bit of the system) and let OBIEE recreate at the next login if you want to exclude some user corruption of any sort.

    Hi Gianni,

    Thanks for the reply!

I have not provided individual access to users. All the users who can view the dashboard are added in "BI Consumer" application role and I have given read/write access to "BI Consumer".

So, it doesn't seem to be an access issue.

Your thoughts on it, may be I am missing on something?

    Thanks and regards,

    Dolly

    Hi,

is active directory part of your security model?

If so double check the roles applied via a user by using the variables in a OBIEE report to explicitly view same.

Also, you do not say your version, but have you regenerated GUIDs recently?
