Hello friends,
I've installed Oracle Linux Server 7.5, then installed weblogic, infrastructure, business intelligence 12.2.1.2.
I installed products based on this tutorial. Everything goes well until it comes to starting all servers.

there you can see installing stops. I checked the logs and saw that the server called "obips1" can not start.

here are the logs:

Something is gofy with you hostname.

can you paste here your /etc/hosts file

Also paste your sawlog contents here.

Also, I see that OBIEE 12.2.1.2.0 is not certified with Oracle Linux 7.5.

Can you try installing it on Oracle Linux 7 ?

Actually I was disappointed with the machine and removed it completely!
because I had done the same thing two or three times and the same error arose.
Maybe you are right after looking the certified OS with oracle BI 12.2.1.2 I decided to install on windows 7.s1. I hope it works for me.
    Sincerely.

    No, no, no, stop !

    Windows 7 ???

Where did you see Windows 7 as a supported OS for OBIEE ?

Oracle Linux 7.5 is totally fine, it is in the certification matrix and it's supported !!!

Oracle Linux 7.5 is Oracle Linux 7 with Update 5, the certification matrix clearly certify Oracle Linux 7 with any update (0+).

So do not move to Windows, and even less to a Windows 7.

Why didn't you check the logs to find out the reason of your components not starting instead of just throwing everything away?

While still installing you maybe also want to consider moving to 12.2.1.4 directly as 12.2.1.2 is already quite old (October 2016) and will probably not get patches anymore later this year ...

I don't know what "certified OS" you looked at, but Windows 7 is NOT supported.

NO Windows Desktop OS is supported!!

maybe my problem is with data base because I didn't install it as plugable. am I right?

Look better in the picture you posted yourself ...

Column A: do you see OBIEE as one of the products matching Windows 7 ?

And you seem to be looking at the "Client" certifications, while you want to install the product itself and not just the Admin tool, so it's the "System" sheet you need to look at in the matrix.

It helps to actually read things. There is not a single analytics products mentioned as supported for that OS.

    Thank you for responding me,
It seems I made a mistake and I know nothing about this excel file.

you told me look it up at system sheet, but I found nothing useful. I think I do not know how to interpret this file.
would you mind teaching me how that is ?
    Sincerely.

  • The certification matrix ... take some time to get into it in detail (it's Oracle )

The "system" sheet in the file is the one giving you the OS details for the "server" on which you want to install the tool.

You first need to look at the column "Product Offering" to identify all the values that match your needs. In your case OBIEE, so OBIEE fall into the "ALL" value as you can see from the comment above which says "ALL" is everything about Fusion Middleware 12c with few exceptions.

Once you did that filter you are left with just few rows which cover the supported OS and their versions.

Keeping it short: being a server tool no desktop OS is certified for it, that's why you can't install OBIEE itself on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10.

Your original choice of Oracle Linux 7.5 was perfectly fine and actually was the best match.

I installed it many times on Oracle Linux without a single issue.

    Capture.PNG

I would suggest you go back to the original choice: Oracle Linux 7.5 and install there, and then if you still get the same issue instead of drop everything it will be time to go into log files to find the issue.

Keep in mind that being a server tool it expect to have a fixed hostname / IP, so sometime issues happen because the VM is using DHCP and at each start it change IP which make OBIEE not starting fine as it keeps trying to connect to the old IP.
