Can OBIEE favorites be changed en masse?

We've set up an OBIEE demo environment (12.2.1.1.0), with a bunch of canned dashboards and analyses. Originally, the demo team asked me to set up a number of analyses as favorites for all the users, so I did so. Now they've changed their minds--they just like the dashboards which are listed in the dashboards folder, so they want to remove all the favorites.

The only way I know to do this is to log in as each user, go to Manage Favorites, and delete them one at a time. We've got like sixty users, so that's all kind of tedious.

Is there any way, say on the database back-end, to wipe out the favorites for everyone at a shot? Keep in mind I don't want to remove anyone's access to what they have already--just take things out of the favorites menu.

  • The favorites are stored in the catalog, not in a database ("almost" nothing is stored in a database in OBIEE).

So you can do it by editing the files on disk (XML) for all the users: _internals/_favorite inside each user personal folder.

You probably want to do a backup first ...

If your demo matches another environment that has everything for the users except the afore mentioned favourites then you could copy it over, having backed up first...
