Hi All,

We are facing issue while trying to import metadata from Hive in RPD. The version we are using is 12.2.1.3 of OBIEE.

The system DSN test connection is successful (so that makes me think that ODBC driver setup is fine) but import metadata in RPD fails and the admin tool becomes unresponsive. I used below two different ODBC drivers but none of them is able to import metadata in RPD –

1. Oracle 8.0 Apache Hive Wire Protocol (that gets shipped out of the box with the OBI client tool)
2. MapR Hive ODBC Connector 2.1.9 (that I downloaded from http://package.mapr.com/tools/MapR-ODBC/MapR_Hive/MapRHive_odbc_2.1.9.1014/)

Can someone help/suggest on this issue?

    Hi ,

    Where did you create ODBC ? On OBI server or client ?

    If you created ODBC on client , please create ODBC on server that OBI installed and then try import metadata.

    I have created on client, and that too in offline mode. So is it required to create on server and import?

    I assumed that you are working in online mode.

    I don't think that is required to create on server , if you are working in offline mode.
