Usage tracking data updation

Hi All,

Please let us know what type of data is inserted in usage tracking, below is what i have observed as of now...

Clicking on dashboard tab will be a hit on each report present in Dashboard page

Refresh browser will not consider as hit as refresh will display the results based on what displayed already

Report opened as a part of dashboard page export is not considered as hit

Navigating to path and exporting a report is generated a hit

Clicking on refresh under report is considered as hit also Navigating through tabs (criteria or results) is not generating hit ,,,, also Export to excel or pdf is not generating a hit with out modifying a report

Clicking on Refresh under result tab is generated a hit

Navigating to path and edit a report is generated a hit

Request running in progress is also generating a hit

Login -> Access eclaims dashboard – go to different dashboard ->then come back and access the eclaims dashboard – will not generate a hit

Applying a prompt also generates a hit for all the reports depends on the particular dashboard page

* Filter binoculars also generated a hit but null values (select yearmonth from Dates)

You seem to have given up this thread.

The things are quite clear. What you look for can't really be found in the way you want it because it's the normal behaviour of something else: cache.

Therefore things are super simple: query sent to OBIS? An entry in Usage tracking. Query not sent because in front-end cache? No entry in UT.

I agree with ur reply...

trying to see most used/viewed reports related a particular SA or Dashboard....we have setup in Rpd with SA related to usage tracking...

but like to know more details like on what basis a entry is made in usage tracking for each report.. i am looking for Oracle doc where i can find this info...

i did some google...but couldn't find anything on this...still trying ..so posted here for expert help....

Hi,

Usage tracking tracks work done by the BI server. If the BI server execute a query it will be logged, if it doesn't there isn't a log in usage tracking. As there are various levels of cache, queries hitting the BI server cache are logged, actions being answered by the presentation cache (so refreshing the browser page but not using the "refresh" link inside OBIEE) doesn't generate a query, it's just answered from the presentation cache and therefor not logged.

Is there something you are after and can't find in usage tracking? There are various other ways to log things, so based on your need we can maybe point you in the right direction.
