Timestamp functions in Smartview environment

Trying to use TIMESTAMP funcitons in OBIEE using Smartview as the method for updating the table. It works fine the first time I execute Smartview, but on subsequent refreshes I get a string of zeros returned. Any insight? I must be doing something wrong.

There is a strict correlation between the effort put into asking a question (and the "quality" of the question) and the number and "quality" of answers.

You are free to still believe it's quite precise, but based on the lack of replies I would maybe question that aspect.

You don't mention a single version of what you use, like if there is just 1 single version of SmartView and 1 single version of OBIEE. You don't give a full use case, you don't say anything about you tried to identify the issue and solve it.

Nobody is paid to be here, if a question is too vague people will not spend their free time to imagine the whole context which isn't provided, they move on to another thread.

Last thing: to say "it seems quite precise to me" means you didn't even click on the link posted by Christian, otherwise you would have posted more details.

If you believe you gave enough info and want a "paid" answer, open a SR and go through the process with Oracle. But be ready: they will also ask you questions and to be precise, you will not really avoid it.

As a newbie in any regard - as I am with respect to many technologies which I keep learning - I tend to put emphasis on reading tons of material before asking, thinking about what's written in the material before asking, questioning my own approach to the task or problem before asking and when finally asking - following the rules of the forum.

OTN/ODC/MOSC have guidelines. Most other forums too. StackOverflow has some extremely harsh mods who will simply quarantine your question and have you rewrite it!

Those are rules to live by. Invest some time in a question and think. This shows involvement, dedicstiom to the topic and interest rather than implying "hey internet, do my homework" or "i can't be bothered. Read my mind and figure out what i mean and give me the answer".

We are really trying to explain why there isn't enough in the thread to even just guess where to look for something.

I have been in your own position: I remember my questions sounded extremely precise to me. And based on the first replies I had, I figured out a lot was implicit knowledge. I was working on that thing / project / client / environment on a daily base, so it was all obvious implicit knowledge to me. It just isn't the case for anyone else.

Don't take it bad, just post more details (like versions, describe exactly what you have and what you are doing etc.). Sometime even wording is confusing as one word means a thing for one and another for somebody else. Therefore the more you write, the less there can be misunderstanding because of wording.

Also pictures are great: a picture often tell more than thousand words.
