Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem with sending agents in OBIEE 12c.

I have configured my mail settings in Enterprise Manager to use my company's SMTP mail server. I received a test mail saying that configuration was set up correctly.

But whenever I want to send an agent to any user, I get the following error in OBIEE: Failed to send MAIL command. 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated

I've checked the instanceconfig file and it has the same configuration details as I entered in EM.

I've also checked for other error messages in the presentation services log in EM to see if anything else comes up. The strange thing is that at the time I try to send the agent, an error message also appears for the user I'm trying to send it to saying: User [myname] might not access his home directory due to wrong permission setting.

But I have no problem accessing my home directory...

Also, there are warnings on the homepage, so the agents run but OBIEE can't seem to be able to send an email

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Regards,

Lianne

This is a SMTP error, so your SMTP server seem to not like how OBIEE is connecting to it or something like that. Could you try to get the SMTP server admins to look into that and tell you what they see on their side? It's their side sending back that error, so they are the ones who can tell you if something need to be changed in the config or something.
