OBIEE 12c - Need for gcc compilers post installation

Hi Team,

SR 3-20650782831

Customer installed OBIEE 12c (12.2.1.2.0) in their Linux v6 servers. There are gcc compilers installed on the linux servers which they want to remove.

I understand that GCC compilers are a prerequisite for OBIEE installation. However, are they still required post a successful installation / configuration of OBIEE?

Will removing the compilers have any functional impact on OBIEE?

    II personally wouldn’t recommend it because it’s quite possible that you’d need the GCC compilers for patches or upgrades in the future. This user has done what you are attempting to do - OBIEE - gcc  but as I said, you may need the compilers further down the line.

    By the way, is there any particular reason why an unsupported version of OBIEE is being installed?

    This maybe explain why a SR end up being posted in the forum: MOS kindly said "sorry, your system isn't supported, bye"
