OBIEE 12c Agent Not sending issue

I am on OBIEE 12c, version 12.2.1.3.0 and we are experiencing issues with scheduled agents. The agents are running as expected and record confirm running was 'Completed' but no email is be received. We upgraded from 11.1.1.9.0 and agents were working fine in 11g and also after upgrade. This is not on all agents but some are working fine but a few are not. This is also happening to scheduled BIPs as well.

  • There are lot of possible options.
    First thing is to make sure OBIEE is the issue, maybe OBIEE does everything fine and it's your mail server messing with it.

    Also important to find out if recipients are correctly retrieved, if they are defined list of users, email addresses or dynamic lists generated on the fly. Check the detailed logs to find out if the agent really execute properly and process the emails etc.

    Logs are the first place to check I would say.

    +1 to Gianni. Logs, logs logs. And not just the OBI logs but also the mail server logs. Most issues like this are tied to the mail server rather than BI.
