OBIEE Report size increases slightly more than double while mailing from desktop mail clients like T

Question

Hi All,

We are having a OBIEE report on "Oracle Business Intelligence 12.2.1.4.0" with few graphs and tables!

Issue: Size of OBIEE report delivered by OBIEE delivery agent is ~600KB and when it is forwarded from Thunderbird/Outlook Email desktop client it increases to 1.6 to 2 MB

Could you please help us in the above to understand if there is any specific settings to be done on the Email Client to retain the size or to reduce the size of OBIEE further in the report?

Note:

1. Email Desktop Client - Checked the mail preference that it receives as HTML/TEXT with inline and not as attachment

2. OBIEE - Pixel size of both height and width has been adjusted, but still didn't help much

3. OBIEE - Made the deliver agent to deliver the content as HTML as inline rather than attachment

Hi Joel, Thanks for prompt response!

We are still not sure, if it is because of OBIEE, the email client is increasing the size of same mail by forwarding it!

Note:

1. The size of mail doesn't increase much if the similar report (without graphs), sent from BI Publisher Trial Version 11g

2. Also tried removing the graph, but no luck on that yet

Hence wanted to know if there is any configuration issue in OBIEE which is causing the mail size to be increased by forwarding from email client!

If you send it as an attachement the size of the attachment will not change (if you don't edit it in a way or another).

As you sent it as HTML look at the source of the email you received from OBIEE and the one you forwarded, you will probably find that multipart content jumped in and your HTML mail (which probably contains SVG or similar visualizations) are duplicated or something like that.

You would need to ask the producer of your email client how to deal with that behaviour. Or moving to attachment (as PDF) so the file is a fixed size.
