My goal is to explore this OBI thoroughly (all deployed apps) to evaluate it.

You will need to be a lot more specific with your question. Because that's BI Publisher and not "OBIEE". Different product but integrated into OBI.

It's also not really "Office integration". It's just "Download my report to Excel". What's your aim?

There is SmartView as well. Search Oracle documentation or google for the details as, once again, it's can easily be a long topic which doesn't fit in a forum ...
