Hello All,

How Data Visualization is different form of reporting than Analytical reporting.

Why I am asking this question- I read in one article that OBIEE is primarily used when Analytical use is required by an organization whilst tableau is data visualization tool. However data visualization is available in latest version of OBIEE. Before data visualization what type of reporting was available in OBIEE?

What is difference among those various types of reporting offered by OBIEE?

Kindly elaborate/help in simple layman term.

Thanks,

    Hi Sangeeta,

    From external sources:

Oracle Data Visualization serves as an add-on to OBIEE 12c that can slice and dice your data for advanced analytics and data visualization.Data Visualization eliminates the complexity typically associated with blending and correlating data sets. Easy, automatic data blending allows users to combine data from a variety of sources — Oracle and other SaaS applications, on-premises systems, external sources, and personal files — and immediately gain new insights using visual analysis. Users can enrich the analysis with narratives to create and securely share insights across the organization.

Here are the visualization available in OBIEE Prior to DV:

    Graphs:

    • Line Graphs
    • Time Series Line Graphs
    • Bar Graphs
    • Line-Bar Combo Graphs
    • Waterfall Graphs
    • Pie Graphs
    • Area Graphs
    • Scatter Plot Graphs
    • Bubble Graphs
    • Radar Graphs
    • Pareto Graphs

    Maps:

    Maps, Layers, and Spatial Basics

    Advanced Visualizations:

    • Trellis Charts
    • Simple Trellis Charts (Type 1 Trellis Charts)
    • Advanced Trellis Charts (Type 2 Trellis Charts)
    • Gauges and Dials
    • Extending Native OBIEE Data Visualization Views
    • Showing Data Distributions Using Tricks with OBIEE Stacked Bar Graphs
    • Oracle ADF Visualizations
    • Using R Visualizations in OBIEE Dashboards
    • Using the Third-Party Visualization Engine D3
    • JQuery

    Other thoughts welcome.

    Thanks ,

    Hi Saresh,

If visualization was already available as graphs in obiee, why DV was introduced as additional component in OBIEE?

Is it only for those Advanced Visualizations which you listed above?

    Thanks,
