How can I create the possibilty to choose oci as a connetion type in the Oracle Analytics Client?
Hey there,
I established a connection from the Oracle Analytics Client (5.9) tool to my Oracle Database XE 18c and created a new Database 'Sample App Data' with a connection pool 'GLOBAL' in it. The next step is to import metadata to this connection pool. As connection type I can only choose ODBC and XML (first picture below) but it throws me an error if I want import some metadata (second picture below). I extracted the .rpd file from the SampleApp VM, accessed it offline and they use an oracle call interface (oci) as connection type in the connection pool (third picture below). So my question is: Is the oci the suited connection type and how can I create the possibilty to choose oci as a connetion type?
Apreciate any help. Thanks.

You have to edit your database and pick the right type there. If you select an Oracle database as type at the database level, the connection pool inside will give your different Call Interface options.
PS: while it isn't fully in the wrong place, in the future feel free to ask OBIEE / OAS questions in https://community.oracle.com/tech/apps-infra/categories/business_intelligence_suite_enterprise_edition
