Workaround to pass parameters to dashboards page while running agents
Hi,
I have requirement to send files to user for each department. Department is the Dashboard page prompt. There are 100 departments. We can create 100 agents for each department but the requirement is to create only one agent and it should run 100 times and send the 100 files by department. Meaning each time the agent runs it should run for specific department. I am not sure How can I control the department parameter dynamically while running the Agent.
Any thoughts please.?

Your need may be better suited to a more "old school" approach such as bursting:

@Brandon_1 Thank you for your inputs. Yes, you are correct. We can do bursting in BI Publisher, but customer wants to do it in Agents. So, looking for any workarounds.

Hi @User_VP1WV ,
There is no way to achieve your goal with a single agent.
You have to create one agent for each department or switch to BI Publisher and use bursting as @Brandon_1 already suggested.
As an alternative, you can add a hidden page to your dashboard where data for all departments is displayed (e.g. if you have a single analysis you can add the department column to the Sections drop target of your table view) and schedule it using an agent. Please note that it will generate a single big file, and not one for each department.

If your "department" can be identified by a unique ID (like a group email, Dept ID for example) that can be tied to some kind of account, then you can use personalization+conditional analyses to pull the recipient list via the conditional analysis and then send out personalized content.
The engine will do an implicit login as that departmental account and send out the respective data.
