Search and Select columns by type

Organization Name
Verizon
Description
Have the ability to search and select columns by data type (date, numeric, text) during in data set creation. Users should be able to search through columns by type (numeric, text, date) and select the ones they need to include in the data set or need to transform (convert to text, numeric, etc).
Use Case and Business Need
This feature would enable search and selection of specific column type when creating data sets more efficiently. This is especially true when using a subject area that has hundreds of columns to select from.
This would also come in handy when you need to transform several columns (convert from text to numeric or vice versa) during data set creation. This would enable search, selection and transformation of several columns at the same time.
More details
Currently, there is no way to search and select columns by data type during creation of data sets. Users will need to scroll through many columns to identify which ones to select or know the exact column names to add to logical SQLs.

Hi Angel,
Thanks for entering this idea and for using IdeaLab! We will definitely look into this request - as we spoke we are already working on a sorting feature that will allow users to sort by name and type - this will work in conjunction with another feature that is under development which will also allow users to perform certain transforms on multiple columns at once. I will follow up as we make more progress and if we need more information.
Regards,
Luis

Hi Angel,
Just an update on this idea - we believe that the new sorting capability, we are adding to the metadata view which will allow sorting by Column Name, Treat As, Aggregation Type, and Hidden Status which will be part of a release later this calendar year, will satisfy the requirements of this idea. Once we are able to preview it, I will contact you and we can setup a preview and decide if we can close this idea. Thanks again.
