Organization Name (Required - If you are an Oracle Partner, please provide the organization you are logging the idea on behalf of):

Oracle Design Research - Telemetry

Description (Required):

Custom error message that hints to data visualization consumers why they are not seeing a visualization, and what steps, if any, they could take to address the problem.

Use Case and Business Need (Required):

Currently when a visualization does not display in OAC, OAC displays a default "No Data Found" image to a data visualization consumer. However, this could lead the consumer to assume that the problem occurs because there is no data available. In reality, several factors could lead to a visualization not displaying - for example, the consumer may have applied a set of conflicting filters, and simply needs to change a filter to be able to see the data. It would be helpful if the error message could be customized to hint to consumers why they are not seeing the visualization, and what steps they could take to address the problem. A data visualization author could write such custom error message based on their knowledge of the dataset and filters.

Enhancement Request / Service Request:

Enable data visualization authors to write custom error messages to display to consumers in OAC.

    Hi,

There is an option currently available in OAC to write a custom Error Message.

    Sample is shown below:

Navigation in OAC: Analysis --> Criteria --> Analysis Properties --> Display results --> No Result Setting --> Display custom Message.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks
