I also have scenarios where I have an "ID" field that I need in the table for Data Actions but they don't need to be displayed in the view. In OBIEE, I would just add the column to the table and just hide it. I know this functionality exists because if you convert an OBIEE report to DV, it will do it but it can't be done on its own.

I have also faced situations while testing the analysis which can get the data from aggregate or detailed table depending on the column selected. So in order to force the analysis to hit the detail table but still show data at higher level, this feature of hiding would really be of good use.

  • It's also useful when one wants to sort some table members by some hidden key but don't want to present that key (and use it for non standard sorting). There are many such situations (e.g. financial balance report when some report members must be presented in predefined order - in OBI EE we could add some additional column, fill it with sort number, sort table based on that column and then hide).

  • If the value is a measure, have you tried using a tool tip to see if this gives you the sorting you need? While you may still want to hide it, it might help.

  • This is what i do:

    1) Modify the Data Font to size=1 (you need to *type* the "1", it will not be on the list of values)

    2) Modify the Data Font colors to white over white (#ffffff over #ffffff)

    3) Modify the column Display Header from "Auto" to "Custom" and replace its default title by a "k". (to make it narrower)

Results: there still is a column showing up; but more discrete than before.

Hello, was this idea implemented? If not, when can we expect this? This is a need for our business as well.
