Ability for Oracle Analytics Cloud to schedule the creation of snapshots, and also an API / CLI process to download the snapshot remotely.

Use Case and Business Need

The organization's DR procedure requires snapshots to be taken daily and stored remotely for DR. Currently the process to create a snapshot and download is done manually.

The request is to enhance the tool capability to automate (schedule) the snapshot process, and the availability of a API to download the snapshot. This will eliminate the manual process, and provide seamless integration of the DR process.

This feature is generally available in the September 2022 update. Note that downloading a Snapshot (if required) would use the Storage Service API.

Hello everyone, I realize this is environment is only meant for discussion of new ideas, not support; so my apologies. But… this week i have been trying to implement a REST API to automate snapshots and I can’t understand the instructions.

At the moment I am stuck at creating a “confidential application”. And i am waiting for oracle support to provide help.

if anyone would be kind enough to help me understand how the automation is done, i will really appreciate it.

or, to put this in the form of an idea, i would suggest:

Implement a snapshot automation that is not harder to achieve than scheduling an agent (iBot).

Marcelo -- this is about API security . We should have another idea for "allow snapshot scheduling in the UI" as you described above! Please create one as this got wrapped in the API point.

For all APIs going forward, we will use OAuth. You will have to get proper credentials to use APIs. Here are two blog posts that might help.
